As a Catholic school, 10% of our timetable is devoted to Religious Education.  This is in addition to Collective Worship and wider curricular activities.

We follow the Model Curriculum provided in ‘To Know You More Clearly: The Religious Education Directory 2023 (RED)’, as required by Catholic Bishops of England and Wales. This is alongside other Catholic schools in the Hallam Diocese. We also utilise resources from a scheme called 'Magister' which supports learning in line with our RE curriculum.

In each year group, there are 6 curriculum branches to the RED Curriculum which aligns with the Liturgical Year:

  • Creation and Convenant
  • Prophecy and Promise
  • Galilee to Jerusalem
  • Desert to Garden
  • To the Ends of the Earth
  • Dialogue and Encounter

Each curriculum branch is structured to explore beliefs and sources through the following knowledge lenses:

  • Hear - The Word, The Bible and teaching documents of the Church
  • Believe - What do Catholics Believe?
  • Celebrate - How do our beliefs shape our prayer, liturgy and sacraments?
  • Live - The impact of faith on life: ethics, philosophy, art and culture

Throughout our curriculum, we integrate the core principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Founded in scripture, we believe that they provide wisdom and insights into how to live the Gospel value in daily life, in and beyond school.
